There were understood to have been over 500 refugees and migrants inside, unable to escape, UNHCR reports.Violence has been erupting across the city since April 4th with UNHCR has so far evacuated over 1,200 people from the fighting. The last known evacuation from the city has been 146 people on April 29th.There are believed to be 3,460 refugees and migrants trapped in detention centres close to the worst affected areas.The refugee agency is now calling on the international community to act on providing, ‘humanitarian corridors and relocation’Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR Special Envoy for the Central Mediterranean said, ‘The risks are simply unacceptable at this point … People inside detention centres in Tripoli are facing ever-increasing dangers, making it vital that we immediately move them out of harm’s way.’WhatsApp <a href=’” alt=”last_img” />
