Samsung Electronics, on Wednesday, announced one of the most anticipated devices of the year alongside the Note 9, the Galaxy Tab S4. The new addition to Samsung’s tablet lineup comes with a much better display, battery and performance than the predecessor Galaxy Tab S3. The 2-in-1 Android tablet comes equipped with an immersive display, four speakers, support for Samsung Dex and S Pen, among other features. For now, Samsung has announced the functionalities and specs of the Tab S4. The company is expected to reveal the price of the tablet at its Unpacked event on August 9 in New York City, alongside the Galaxy Note 9 and also a Galaxy Watch.The Galaxy Tab S4 is designed in a way so that the users can flexibly work from anywhere they like, and at any time, claims Samsung. The Tab S4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. The tablet comes in two storage models — the base version with 64GB storage, while the top-end variant with 256GB which can be expanded up to 400GB via microSD. On the camera front, the tablet features a 13-megapixel sensor on the back, while on the front the device sports an 8-megapixel sensor with an LED flash. The S4 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. With the Tab S4, Samsung will be looking to take on the likes of Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro as far as the performance is concerned.The screen size of the Tab S4 is similar to that of the S3. The tablet comes packed with a large 10.5-inch display with Super AMOLED display with 2560×1600p resolution and aspect ratio of 16:10. This is for the first time that Samsung Dex comes along with a tablet. Previously we have seen Samsung Galaxy Note 8, S9, S9+ phones come with Samsung DeX support. By bringing DeX support to Tab S4, Samsung is aiming to deliver users with a desktop experience of their smartphones. There is also an option to extend Samsung DeX to an external monitor with a compatible HDMI to USB-C multi-port adapter (not included).The Galaxy Tab S4 comes packed with a 7,300mAh battery setup. Samsung claims that the battery of Tab S4 is capable of providing up to 16 hours of video playback. The Samsung tablet also comes with support for Samsung Knox, which will ensure critical information of the users is protected at multiple levels of the device.Now the S Pen, which comes in the box with the Galaxy Tab S4. Samsung claims that the new S Pen is even more productive than before. The S Pen comes with features like — taking notes on the fly through the Screen-Off Memo feature. It will also help users navigate, translate and organize notes through Samsung Notes. Users will also be able to send personalized texts through Samsung Live Message with the S Pen.As already noted, Samsung is yet to reveal the price of the tablet. But, according to reports, some online retail stores have already listed the Tab S4 for pre-orders. According to the listing, the 64GB model will cost $650, which is roughly around Rs 44,500, while the 256GB storage is listed for $750, which translates around Rs 50,000.
